An eco-centric approach to greeting cards

Inspired by our surroundings in rural Worcestershire, it was important for us to offset our paper-based business in as many ways as we could.

Here are the many ways that we use the power of the planet to provide our work in the most eco-conscious way we can.

Our Materials

We've been working with paper for well over a decade now so we'd like to think we know our stuff; we're proper paper geeks.

When it came to launching Beth + Bee our goal was to find the most sustainable cardstock for printing our cards and, lo and behold, we found one that's manufactured using the wind!

Whilst it results in a beautiful finish for our products, knowing that the paper mills making this gorgeous FSC-certified cardstock have committed to 100% recycled paper with non-polluting, wind-generated energy is truly unique.

Alongside this, we use recycled envelopes, biodegradable foil and, in the near future, recycled cotton rag for our range of foil press and letterpress cards.

Our Studio

If we're being honest, the approach we're taking for Beth + Bee is very much inspired by our immediate surroundings. Our studio sits on Stockwood Business Park, aligned with Rush Farm, whose entire ethos is in ethical, regenerative farming.

Without our lovely neighbours, Beth + Bee may not even exist.

Their ethical approach applies to the business park, with heating generated with a heat pump, extensive solar energy helping to power both the heating system and the park, and conversion of waste into electricity.

Putting Something Back

Despite the above we wanted to go a little bit further, so for every 100 cards sold we will be planting a tree with the One Tree Planted project.

Alongside this we are exploring ways in which we can support and sponsor our neighbouring farm's regenerative hedgerow and tree-planting projects.

And if we ever have waste cardstock and paper this is always either re-used for samples, or recycled to be turned into something new.
